I would like to welcome everyone back to school and introduce the news blog to you all. This is a new thing we are gonna try out here at the Muleskinner and, as the new News Editor, I will mostly be blogging about current events.

Pittsburg may be a small college town, but the Pitt State campus police have no problem keeping their hands full. This is especially true for the night shift officers.

In the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 30, some of those officers were faced with this harsh reality: A student climbed to the top of the newly built $1.

Traffic light considered for intersection of Ford, Rouse

Recent congestion at the intersection of Ford and Rouse streets, near the Kansas Technology Center, has forced the city of Pittsburg and Pittsburg State University to consider plans to install a traffic light.

According to the university's master plan for future growth, the confluence of Ford and Rouse streets would see increasing traffic as the university expands.

This semester, every resident director on campus is a Southwest Baptist University alum, including new Woody-Gott Hall resident directors Clinton and Jackie Bass, and Plaster Lodge RD Matt Burke and his wife Pamela.

"It is community here," said Jackie. It was hard to live life with out that after SBU.

At this pace, that means most of you will spend your entire academic careers facing annual across-the-board departmental cuts and, for some of you, annual crippling cuts specific to your own programs.

A tearful Tom Bryant stood before PSU staff at the annual Opening Faculty meeting on Thursday and struggled through the announcement of his resignation as PSU president.

"... At the end of this fiscal year, I will retire from the presidency of this university," Bryant said.
