With fall sports right around the corner, Kansas Wesleyan soccer is making headlines before the first whistle by winning their first pair of matches against Concordia (Neb.) 4-2 on the women's side and 4-1 on the men's side.

The men's soccer team, picked to finish second in the KCAC, returns a heavy lineup, which includes two NAIA All-Americans in Juan Mundo and Mario Rodriguez, and all-region player Jose Garay. Coming off an impressive 14-5-2 record in 2007, the Coyotes look to repeat the success of last year and hope to earn their first ever bid to the NAIA national championships after falling one win short the previous year.

The women are also looking to repeat the success of last year. The women won the KCAC with a perfect 9-0 record, won the Region IV Championship and made their first ever appearance in the NAIA National Championship tournament. The women are also starting the preseason ranked No. 24 in the nation.

The Coyotes return three KCAC first team award winners in Kat Benton, Marisa Brownell, and Heather Muilenburg, and a second team award winner in Kelli Beatty whose dominance in goal last year allowed the Coyotes to lead the nation in goals against at .330.

Both teams have home games tomorrow at 4 p.m. for the women and 6 p.m. for the men against Missouri Baptist University at the Salina Central High School Stadium.
