The taxi company knows you by first name and instead of you calling them daily, they have started calling you to check on your schedule for the day and when you'll be needing a lift downtown. Yeah, this is definitely getting old. Or, even worse, waiting at the bus stop, in freezing weather just to make the affordable trip to point B. Lets face it, the taxi rides and minutes waited at the bus stop, oh and those "really nice people" you meet last Monday when you hitched your way back to the dorms, they're getting old, and its time for them to be over. Now, the question is, where can you find your college car?
You want something that can be bought with your college piggy bank, runs smoothly and the least amount of miles possible. It's not going to be your next luxury, fast, muscle car, but its pretty close. It'll be your college jewel, that gets you from point A to B, with no complications in between.
I've done my homework around Salina and clicking away online to show you the used cars that are available right in our backyard.
When choosing a car, especially in our small town Salina, focus on a gas friendly car.
Little vehicles are what is going to be affordable not the big gas guzzling trucks.
Located right off 9th street is Sankey Auto Center, where you can browse used vehicles starting at $4,000. The vehicles all have low mileage, and there is a large variety of cars to chose from.
Bennett Autos is another student friendly dealership that will help you find the vehicle that best fits your needs and price range. Really keep your eyes open because there are a lot of used vehicles with for sale by owner tags along major streets in Salina, such as Santa Fe, Crawford, and 9th Street.
Do your research with these vehicles and make sure it is exactly what you want at the price you can afford.
When it comes to looking online, used vehicles within the Salina area started at $4,000 at high mileage, so I think your best bet is to look through local newspaper and see if any owners have cars for sale, go to the dealerships and tell them you are a student and to help you locate the car efficient for you.
There are cars out there that you can afford. So say good-bye to the $6 taxi rides here and there, and the bus waiting.
There are used vehicles out there waiting for you.
