Salina recently welcomed new restaurant, Hog Wild Pit Bar-B-Q, with open arms. Located at 2525 Market Place, next to Hong Kong Buffet, the new business offers a large selection of BBQ and savory sides.
For those who haven't gone there yet and want a meal you can't forget, I strongly suggest trying them out. They offer dine-in, drive thru, and carry out services and even cater to parties of 25 to 1000 people.
When I went there, I didn't have a lot of time to eat. So I went through the drive-through. Now, one might think that you can't get a good barbeque dinner from a drive-through, but I was impressed. It took less than ten minutes to order my food and be on my way and the employees were very friendly.
There were many things to choose from, but I decided on the half-rack rib dinner. That comes with two sides, two slices of Texas toast, and extra barbeque sauce- all for under $10. For my sides, I ordered potato salad and baked beans.
Hog Wild uses hickory wood to add flavor and they smoke their food for 20 to 22 hours every day to ensure that the barbeque is fresh and delicious. That was clearly obvious when I took my first bite. The meat literally fell right off the bone and the special seasonings they use really stood out. The extra barbeque sauce isn't needed, but is available for those who want it.
I have often found that by ordering potato salad from some restaurants, many times, it comes out sort of bland and is nothing really to "write home about." But this is definitely a side you'll want to try. Additionally, the baked beans were hot and they had a great flavor that you just can't find from a can.
Hog Wild is well known in Wichita and Hutchinson, having six locations total, and I have heard nothing but good reviews from those who have tried out the new restaurant in Salina.
Many have heard their jingle, "Don't be late, we close at 8!" That would be the only inconvenience I can find with the business. But they are open from 11 A.M. to 8 P.M. every day and offer great food and service for a price that can't be beat.
