The Scoop With Coop
Performing Live

Issue date: 3/4/10 Section: Entertainment
It's important to any act, in the entertainment biz, to be able to showcase their talent in public or live. Not only does it gain you more fans but it also a way for artists to gain extra money by doing shows or going on tours.
The first thing you need to do, if you haven't performed in front of people before, is perform by yourself. You must first be comfortable with yourself before you will be comfortable with performing in front of anyone else. It is important that you practice practice practice. Practice in an empty room that has a huge mirror or mirror wall (preferably). This will allow you to see yourself in actual performance mode and give you a chance to work on and critic your act.
Once you're comfortable enough with your performance it is then time for you to perform it in front of someone else. Start off small with family members or close friends. Before you perform in front of them, ask them to pay close attention to your movements and sound so that they can give feedback at the end of your act. Remember that positive and negative feedback is both good feedback. The more you improve the better your show will be.
After you feel you have a pretty solid stage presence and you are comfortable performing in front of people, take you show out to the public. You can start by doing community talent shows or even going to the mall. When performing at places as such, check out your crowd to see what they play off of and get hyped on. Make mental notes so that you can remember what to embrace more or less for your next shows.
These are just are few ways you can better yourself as an artist and become more involved with your music and fans.
Keep in mind that fans can buy your CD, but unless you're and independent artist, chances are that you aren't going to receive 100% of the earnings off of them. The real money is going out and doing shows.
Well that's all for this week. I'm Sir Coop and this has been your Inside Scoop. God Bless
