Issue date: 3/4/10 Section: News
Psychology Club is one of many clubs students can participate in that brighten the students as well as the campus.
The mission of Kappi Psi Upsilon is to provide students with the chance to gain additional knowledge in their field of study and to uphold the highest academic standards for members.
The club hopes to host both social events and sponsors. Sponsors would be for outreach events and provide services for the University/community.
This organization has hosted many guest speakers, gone on field trips related to psychology in some way, conducting fund raisers and helped to send students to attend professional conferences.
The goal is to continue and expand with these; provided there is a student interest. Some guest speakers talk about graduate school and team with other organizations and go on educational field trips.
Instructors include Steve Hoekstra and Gerald Gillespie.
The short term goal for this club is to build a strong membership and become more active in the university.
The long term goal for this club is to be a well-known active organization that plays an active and important role in the University and provides students the chance to grow personally, socially and professionally.
Last year, they hosted Miss Kansas, participated in services through Project Hero and Hunt for Green and assisted in the organization the campus collections for the Soup-er-bowl Sunday.
Three students attended the Mid-Western Psychological Association conferences. They also had two movie parties and two t-shirt fund raisers, as well as playing one round of "Circle of Paranoia."
