Four Kansas Wesleyan University women's basketball players have been named All-KCAC as the All-KCAC teams have been announced after being selected by the conference coaches.
Wesleyan placed two on the First Team and two as honorable mention. KWU also had selections to the All-KCAC All-Defense team and the All-KCAC All-Freshman teams.
Junior guard LaCole Wilkinson and freshman forward Stephanie Frost were named First Team All-KCAC, while Shelby Babcock and Montric Santee were named Honorable Mention selections.
Wilkinson (5-3, Jr., G, Hemple, Mo. / East Buchanan HS) was named First Team All-KCAC for a second straight season. During conference play, she averaged 13.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, and had nearly a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
She shot 47.8 percent from the field during conference play, including 43.1 percent from three point range. Through the completion of the regular season, Wilkinson was averaging 12.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game through 27 contests. Wilkinson also scored her 1000th career point against Ottawa University in the KCAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
"Without LaCole in our lineup, we would not have been as successful as we were this season," KWU head coach Gordon Reimer said. "She does a lot to make our team go out on the court. Her defensive skills and offensive skills are top notch. She worked hard to improve her skills coming off of an All-American performance last year, and that hard work has paid off."
Frost (5-11, Fr., F, Assaria, Kan. / SE of Saline HS) was also named First Team All-KCAC. In 18 conference games, she averaged 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while shooting 51.9 percent from the field. Overall, through the completion of the regular season, Frost was averaging 12.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, and was shooting 49.8 percent from the field.
She recorded six double-doubles during the regular season, and added two more during the KCAC Tournament.
"Stephanie Frost has developed into a great player for us this season," Reimer said. "She plays hard, goes after the ball, and does a lot of things to help us out all around. We knew she was going to be a good player coming into this season and seeing what she has done makes me feel she has a great career ahead of her as well."
Frost was also named as the KCAC Freshman of the Year, and was named to the All-KCAC All-Defense Team and the All-KCAC All-Freshman Team.
"She is deserving of her Freshman of the Year selection. There was no other freshman player in our conference that did what she did in terms of helping our team be successful, and I am extremely proud of her for earning that honor," Reimer said.
Babcock (5-5, So., G, Ventura, Calif. / St. Bonaventure HS) was named Honorable Mention All-KCAC. She averaged 13.8 points per game through 18 conference games during the season. She shot 39 percent from the field overall and 35.9 percent from three point range during conference play. She also shot 81.2 percent from the free throw line in KCAC play.
Overall, Babcock is shooting 41 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from three point range and 83.1 percent at the line while averaging 13.7 points per game through 27 games played.
